This guesthouse is conveniently located near the train station, making it easy to explore the area. The hosts are friendly and provide clear directions. The apartment offers a comfortable and inviting atmosphere to come back to after a busy day of adventures. Guests can also enjoy the surrounding neighborhood, which is full of interesting sights and attractions.
Some guests reported issues with the staff, experiencing a lack of empathy and poor treatment.

It was very comfortable staying there. The facilities and bed were clean and comfortable. The common area on 2nd and 3rd floors are good venues to know people. The staffs were very friendly:)
The location is slightly further than I would expected from the map that was given in the website. Maybe the directions can be clearer like the nearest exit to take from Kyoto station.

The staff at the hotel were extremely friendly and helpful, especially Mr. Takeshi and Mr. Shota. They were always available to assist and spoke English very well. The location of the hotel was also fantastic, with it being only a short walk from Kyoto Station and close to bus stops and convenience stores. Additionally, I really enjoyed the experience of sleeping in a traditional tatami room, it was like something out of a Japanese movie.
The only downside of my stay was the limited privacy in the rooms. The curtains between the beds were quite transparent, so it felt a bit exposed at times.

Most of the people on the front desk were really nice although not everyone could speak english very well. There was a kitchen that we could use and the place was friendly and very clean
I stayed in the Tatami room which is right next to the front office. Sometimes it was really noisy in the morning or at night when I wanted to have some rest. The tatami room is okay if not too full, but when is fully booked (as it happened to me on one of the nights) it gets too crowded and there isn't a lot of room for our stuff.

the staff at the guesthouse were friendly and helpful, making our stay enjoyable. the location was convenient, with easy access to Kyoto station and nearby restaurants. the rooms were comfortable, with traditional tatami matting and futons. we also appreciated the clean facilities, including a well-equipped kitchen and coin-operated laundry.
Check-out time of 10am was a little early.

I am travelling since almost have a year around the world as a backpacker and this hostel was the best so far! A super friendly crew, an amazingly calm atmosphere and almost every evening a nice chat with the crew and other guests in the social room/kitchen. Two thumbs up for the lantern (which I call "Takeshi's castle" - go there and ask the owner why and you will understand ^^) and its crew - I absolutely recommend this hostel!!

It's really really nice to stay there. I have spent 8 days in Japan. Lantern is the hostel I love most. Backpackers are like family there. And everthing is clean and beautiful. I love it all. I will be back sometime in the future.
